Crisis Detection Protocol
GOAT MODE is a mental training tool for swimmers. It is not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
Every message is screened first
Before any AI response is generated, each message you send to the GOAT Coach is checked on our servers for language suggesting self-harm or suicidal thinking. This screening happens first, every time — the AI model is never reached when a message is flagged.
What happens if a message is flagged
Normal coaching is interrupted. Instead of a mindset exercise, you receive an immediate response that encourages you to talk to a parent, coach, or another trusted adult right now, along with crisis resources:
- United States: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
- Outside the US: findahelpline.com lists local options
Flagged messages are logged internally so flagged volume can be reviewed for safety. They are never used for marketing or profiling.
If you are in immediate danger
Call your local emergency number right away. An automated system cannot keep you safe — a real person can.
